MFSCH celebrates National Skating Month!

January is National Skating Month.  This year’s theme is “Skating is a Blast”.

In celebration of “Skating is a Blast”, Memorial Figure Skating Club of Houston hosted an Open House at our home rink, Ice Skate USA @ Memorial City, on Saturday January 14, 2017.  Information and goodies pertaining to the sport of skating were handed out.  Skaters and parents were treated with cookies and light refreshments.  Two of our Club skaters, Kailyn Silva (Free Skate 3) and Grace Golden (Pre-Juvenile), performed their competition programs, displaying their grace and skating skills to the general public and Learn to Skate skaters.  We hope to uphold the spirit of skating and to encourage more people to take on the sport of skating.

Thank you to all of you who stopped by our Open House!

If you weren't already excited about the Nutcracker On Ice, here's a little video teaser.

Volunteers Needed for Nutcracker Performances

The Nutcracker 2016 at Ice Skate USA @  Memorial City is just around the corner. The performance dates and times are: Fri 12/9 at 7 pm, Sat 12/10 at 1 pm and Sat 12/10 at 6 pm.
This production is the brainchild of our home rink. Every year, the Club is given the opportunity to raise funds for the Club as well as to play a supportive role in the event.
This year, the Club plans to raise funds through the following ventures:
1. Sale of flowers and poinsettia plants
2. Sale of Club and holiday merchandises
3. Sale of The Nutcracker DVDs (pre-sale will be available)
4. Photo Booth (this will take place on Sat only before the 1st show through the intermission of the 2nd show)
Our supportive roles are:
1. Organizing moms in charge of the younger skaters’ groups
2. Assisting skaters with costumes and makeup, if needed
3. Keeping dressing rooms and restrooms clean and organized.
For these to happen, we need your help!
